IBM PCjr
An IBM PCjr from a garage sale, $5. It came with no power supply, no keyboard and no monitor, and the PCjr doesn’t share any of those with a regular PC. From what I’ve read so far it wasn’t a very good machine even when it was new, and sourcing power, a keyboard and a monitor for it looks like it’ll cost several times what the computer did. Right now I’m just figuring out what it needs before I spend anything on it.
Current state
As of 2026-09-11: Unpowered and untested. I have the unit and nothing that plugs into it. Reading up on what power supply, keyboard and monitor it takes and what each of those costs.
Had the lid off for a look. It’s clean inside. No burn smell, nothing black, and the caps I can see look fine.

Open problems
- Power. It didn’t come with a supply and it doesn’t take a regular PC one.
- Keyboard. None came with it.
- Monitor. None came with it.
- Whether the three of those together are worth more than the machine is to me.
- Nothing has been powered or inspected yet, so no idea what state the board is in.
